Wholly controlled by the Dubai Real Estate Corporation, Wasl Properties (styled "wasl") is the semi-government group created in 2008 to manage and develop the emirate's public property portfolio, formed by merging the Dubai Development Board with the Real Estate Department. It operates one of the largest rental portfolios in the city, concentrated in established districts such as Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Karama and Jumeirah, alongside freehold communities including wasl 1, wasl Gate and wasl Green Park. Its holdings extend well beyond housing — hospitality assets such as Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights, retail destinations including dar wasl, and the Dubai Golf arm that runs Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates. Positioning spans affordable and mid-market rental stock through to upscale golf-community development.
